The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a standardized test administered by the College Board and co-sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the United States. It’s technically a practice version of the SAT exam. The National Merit Scholarship Program offers three types of Merit Scholarship awards to Finalists: National Merit USD 2,500 Scholarships, Corporate sponsored Merit Scholarship awards and College-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards.

When to take the PSAT/NMSQT test?

The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is typically offered once a year in October. The testing dates are usually within the second or third week of October, but specific dates vary each year

What is the duration of the PSAT/NMSQT test?

The PSAT/NMSQT test lasts for 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Here’s a breakdown of the sections:
1.Reading: 60 minutes (47 questions)
2.Writing and Language: 35 minutes (44 questions)
3.Math (No Calculator): 25minutes (17 questions)
4.Math (Calculator Allowed): 45 minutes (31 questions)
There are short breaks between sections, so the overall testing experience (including instructions and
breaks) typically takes around 3 to 3.5 hours.
