Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States and Canada created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. American colleges and universities may grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations.

When to take the AP exams?

Students usually take AP exams in Grade 11 or 12 or both. But some take them earlier, in Grade 9 or 10. Some students also choose to take AP exams in a gap year after completing high school, before they go to college.

What is the duration of the AP exam?

Most exams are 2-3 hours long. The first part of the exam usually consists of multiple-choice questions. Students will have to choose 1 of 4-5 answer choices for each question. Total exam score on the multiple-choice section is based only on the number of questions answered correctly.
